This procedure is intended to operate in Western Australia and must be applied consistently with applicable Western Australian and Commonwealth laws, regulations and safeguarding obligations.
Immediate Response
- Assess danger and make the area safe where reasonably possible.
- Call emergency services (000) when required.
- Provide first aid/emergency assistance within training and authority.
- Do not move an injured person unless necessary for immediate safety.
- Maintain supervision of remaining Queens (participants).
- Notify the program lead and relevant Parent or Guardian as soon as reasonably practicable, subject to safety and safeguarding considerations.
Serious Incidents
For serious injury, suspected abuse, missing Queen, violence, fire, major facility hazard or other significant event, prioritise safety, contact emergency/relevant authorities as required, preserve relevant information and follow reporting obligations.
Documentation and Review
Complete an Incident/Accident Report promptly. Record facts, times, actions, witnesses and notifications. Significant incidents should be reviewed for follow-up, support and risk-control improvements.
